Kevin Snook 114 The Manufacturing Guy
I didn’t choose manufacturing as a career, like many others I fell into it. Manufacturing can be hard and there were times I hated it, the drive for continuous improvement meaning it was never ‘good enough’. The complexity of machines, materials and people can feel overwhelming, creating endless problems to solve.
Despite the challenges, I found a way to craft a career I love, applying my unique strengths to manufacture a world-class life. Whatever situation you are in now, you can do the same.
You may recognise some of my roles from the past 30 years and perhaps your current role slots in here somewhere? I’ve been a ...
shift team leader, process engineer, regional engineer, department manager, global project leader, factory manager, sales director, managing director, business owner, consultant, entrepreneur, bestselling author, podcast host, keynote speaker
... all in manufacturing, and from the age of 27 onwards it has been pretty much by design.
But there were times when it was overwhelming and yes, I remember sitting outside the factory, early one frosty morning in my warm car. It wasn’t the cold that kept me from getting out, it was the fear of what waited for me as soon as I walked in, I just wanted to stay in that cocoon.
What about you?
Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought you would be further ahead in your life by now, knowing you have more potential that just isn’t getting expressed? Have you felt like maybe this manufacturing life just isn’t for you and that you might need to start all over again?
The challenge in manufacturing is that it never stops! Day after day the focus is on “what went wrong?”, either someone asking that of you or you asking it of someone else. “What happened? Why?” There always seems to be something going wrong, always another expectation.
I get it, I’ve been there and sunk to the depths several times in my life, but manufacturing can also be an amazing way to make a contribution and impact lives.
With help from mentors, hundreds of thousands of dollars in coaching and a 25 year personal development obsession I have systematically manufactured a life I love.
- I’ve had the privilege of working in 30 countries and with over 200 businesses.
- I’ve managed teams of up to 4,000 people and touched thousands more through my consulting companies.
- I’ve become a multi-millionaire with homes in England and Thailand.
- I am a happily married family man who for the past 10 years has taken 8 weeks vacation per year.
- I’ve made it a priority to be a healthy role model to our three kids and am in the best shape of my life
- manufacturing has been the fuel.
I’ve been able to manufacture the life of my dreams, and I’m only just getting started. Now I want to help you and your teams manufacture your own lives of joy and fulfilment.
